Spring is arguably my favorite season, next to the changing colors of leaves and pumpkin scents in Fall.
This season I didn’t get to see hanging wisteria or a field of sunflowers, however I enjoyed most of my outdoor time around my little mountain home.
I took walks and documented the local plants in the area, and tried a plant-identifying app for the first time!
These are some of the things I discovered…

This flower is a Southwestern Pricklypoppy. This grows (according to my PlantSnap app) in Arizona and New Mexico, as well as mountainous regions. This last reason explains its presence in the mountains where I live!
The flower definitely resembles a poppy, and looking at the stems, I can see where the name “prickly” comes from.
The next plant was a surprise to me.. I’ve been envying all the wisteria content on the internet, but I found some growing nearby! This was only in full bloom for a couple of weeks, and then the purple soon faded to a white, and then there was little evidence of petals after that.

Where there are now small flowers growing wild, there will soon be wild berries in my backyard. There are hundreds of these! I just hope the bears save some for us! They’re very prickly, so we’ll have to be careful picking them.

Continuing my love for roses, I went to a plant nursery and bought two varieties - popcorn drift and sea foam roses (shown in the photo).
I’m starting small, but hope that my garden, and green thumb, will soon grow!
