An Old Pair of Shoes

I’ve started incorporating flowers into a lot of my posts. I took inspiration from seeing other accounts using flowers in unusual places. Being the night owl I am, I was inspired at midnight to work on this photo with my old trusty pair of Converse shoes, and of course, some flowers. Taking a picture of my feet in the air was easy enough (well, my abs did remind me that they were there). The editing process however took me much more time than I had expected.

There is hardly any blank space on the walls where I live. I use PicsArt to edit most of my images. Light switch on the wall? No problem! I’ll just take it out. I did take the picture at midnight at first using artificial light, but then decided to take the same picture the next morning in order to limit the amount of shadows on the wall.

This time, however, it took me much longer to blur out the contrasting dark images on the wall. Although at first glance the wall seems to be one color with little to no shadow, there is a gradation of hue that goes from light to dark, towards the bottom of the wall. This made the blending of color more difficult than I had anticipated.

Rather than causing myself more frustration, I decided to give the wall a more textured look, and gave it intentional strokes like a painting, or to look as though there was a sheet in the background.

I’m very pleased with how it turned out. It’s funny how you can start out with a certain vision, and then it takes a turn in the process. This is one tricky, yet wonderful thing that happens during the creative process.
